Buenas Dias from Chinandega, Nicaragua! The church we are working at has a computer here today, so I thought I would send a quick update to you all. We got to Chinandega yesterday and worked on painting at the church yesterday and today. The church we are working at is called Amore Viviante and they just completed the building earlier this week, just in time for us to paint. We´ve sanded down the fence to get the rust off and are doing the finishing touches this afternoon. We´ve also painted the 2 large walls and will finish this tomorrow morning.
We are staying in a hostel downtown Chinandega, it´s a very nice place! Last night we got a true taste of the storms in Nica, it poured for over an hour and got PITCH black, it was a cool experience.
We´ll work in the church tomorrow and then spend the afternoon with the youth. Saturday morning we´ll pack up and go back to Managua for our last weekend. We´ll spend more time doing 2 of my favorite things...shopping and laying at the beach AGAIN!!!
Thanks for all your support and prayers, we´ve had a great week so far and can only hope that the rest of the week continues to go well. Here are a few things to pray for specifically...
-Claude and Raven as they fly back to the States tomorrow. Pray for smooth flights and safe travel for them to Grand Rapids on Sunday.
-Continued health and safety for the rest of the team, everyone has adjusted pretty well to the Nica food!
-As we close our time here, that we may reflect the faithfulness and goodness of our amazing God and to open our eyes to the MANY blessings we have!
Thanks guys, you´re awesome!

You guys should be pros at painting after all the experience you are getting on this trip. Care to do a bonus 'SERVE' project at the Fox house and paint our kitchen when you return????? I'll even treat you to rice & beans and....Eskimo!!
ReplyDeleteOk, just kidding. Wonderful to get an update while you are in Chinandega. We didn't think we would hear from you for a few days so this was a bonus!
We think of your team and pray for you daily.
Pauls words come to mind, '...if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me...'
Finish strong Team Nic!!

GOOOOO Team - It was good to hear from you, it sounds like the team is accomplishing great things. Enjoy the next couple of days and we'll be anxious to hear to your stories on Monday evening. We'll say an extra prayer for Claude and Raven as they travel back tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteLove and prayers - Karen
Even in the storms-he holds us in His hands. We had a big one night before last. We're camping out at the lake and when the thunder roared, the rain poured, and we saw the lightning flash through the camper...we thought of you.
ReplyDeleteI read these verses this morning and want to share them with you and thank you for answering God's call and allowing him to work through you. "I was hungry and you fed me, I was thirsty and you gave me a drink, I was homeless and you gave me a room, I was shivering and you gave me clothes, I was sick and you stopped to visit, I was in prison and you came to me. Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me-you did it to me." I know you will all be changed because of how you served during this project. God is good all the time. All the time, God is good. Thanks Team!! ~Julie
Hi all:
ReplyDeleteI have loved reading your updates. You all have done a great job of writing and keeping us up to date! I'm anxious to hear more when you get home. We're camping out at the lake and we went to the beach last night. I have a feeling your beach might be a little nicer than our beach :-). God's blessings-see you soon.

A day at the beach sounds great. You are missing a huge down pour of rain here. Hazel Street even flooded. It's a great day to be in the house with some hyper boys... at least it is Thursday!
